Baby Dilophiraptor Idle small

The Baby Dilophiraptor is one of the many raptor types that inhabit Primeval Forests. small creatures that take longer to mature than other raptor kin. At a young age, this raptor is less dexterous than it's kin, often needing to pause after leaping at a foe to regain balance. the Dilophiraptor has developed large frills around it's head to make it appear larger, and more threatening than it is. While developing, this frill can be essential for survival as living on arid hills and grasslands leaves one open to larger, or more capable predators. Wasteland scavengers, Dilophiraptors are slower than many of their kin but if given ample time and resources to grow, no less deadly. Possessing a glowing orangish red hide, searing bites, and occasionally exhaling puffs of smoke, this creature resembles a dragon. Unfortunately, this raptor is unable to breath fire and is in no means related to the creatures of legend. Upon spotting prey, the Baby Dilophiraptor let's out a quiet warbling call, signaling the hunt.

This creature is capable of a moderate sprint, able to close distance to most prey. Baby Dilophiraptors prefer to hunt smaller targets as their lack of coordination typically proves fatal against more challenging prey. While lacking in coordination, the Baby Dilophiraptor still possesses powerful jaws, able to take chunks out of larger foes with ease.

All raptors are found on any form of Primeval Forest planets.

Luna's Lab Notes[]

~ While young and developing, this creature possesses less dexterity and balance than it's other raptor-kin, making a medium range battle, or fighting while on a tactical retreat then moving in to strike when the creature stumbles or pauses to re-catch it's balance can prove a useful strategy.

~ Fiercely territorial, Dilophiraptors abandon their offspring at a young age and let them fend for themselves. If a Dilophiraptor encounters a Baby raptor, even it's own offspring, the adult will attempt to hunt, kill, and eat the Baby. Below is a list of noted interactions among species raptor species.
